Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions are general and apply to all customers who purchase products or services from Reykjaböð Hot Springs ehf. through our website, direct sales, or authorized resellers.

Bookings and Purchases of Services and/or Products

Bookings are accepted through the Reykjaböð website, via authorized resellers, or by contacting us directly. Bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed upon payment or in accordance with contractual terms for authorized resellers. It is essential to provide a correct email address when booking so that the purchase confirmation and electronic ticket can be sent to the buyer. The information provided will also be used to communicate with guests for the purpose of delivering a great service experience.

Prices and Payment

All orders placed on the website must be paid for by credit card at the time of purchase. All prices on the Icelandic website are listed in ISK and include VAT along with all other applicable taxes and fees. Once you have started the booking process, you can select EUR, USD, or GBP as an alternative currency. We reserve the right to change prices without prior notice. Once payment has been processed and/or an invoice has been issued, no additional charges will be applied unless price increases result from changes in legislation or currency fluctuations.

Purchase of Services and/or Products

Purchases covering a range of services and/or products are limited to what is available at the time of your visit. All products and/or services included in an admission or experience package — such as restaurant reservations, treatment bookings, accessories, and more — are subject to availability. Should any of the relevant products or services be unavailable for any reason, you are entitled to a refund for that specific product or service, or to reschedule the time and/or date of your booking at no additional cost.

The following applies to the purchase and use of subscription and shared cards:

  • A shared card is valid for the individual registered as the cardholder, along with one accompanying guest.

  • A subscription card is valid only for the individual registered as the cardholder during the card's validity period.

When using subscription or shared cards, valid photo identification must be presented upon arrival. Misuse of a card may result in its revocation by Reykjaböð. Cards that have been partially used are non-refundable.

Electronic Tickets (E-Tickets)

Once you have made a booking on the website, you will receive an electronic ticket valid for single use. Any attempt to reuse the same ticket will be rejected.

The ticket is valid for the date and time selected during the booking process, as shown on the ticket itself. Availability of products and/or services cannot be guaranteed at any other time.

Tickets not purchased from Reykjaböð or authorized resellers may be counterfeit, stolen, or lost, and will be considered invalid in such cases. Any illegal resale or attempted resale will result in the ticket being voided without refund. Likewise, any copying or reproduction of tickets is illegal. Tickets cannot be exchanged for cash.

Age Restrictions

Access to the lagoon is restricted to those 10 years of age and older. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older). Children remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians throughout the entire premises. Staff are authorized to request proof of a child's age by means of valid identification and reserve the right to refuse entry if adequate identification cannot be provided. Access to the bathhouse is restricted to those 18 years of age and older.

Guests with Special Requests

Guests with special needs (e.g., related to accessibility or food allergies/dietary restrictions) are kindly asked to notify us in advance at booking@reykjabod.is so that we can accommodate such requests to the best of our ability.

A private changing room with 8 lockers is available, designed to accommodate people with disabilities, families, or those who require additional privacy. Access to this space must be booked in advance. Guests with special needs or disabilities who are not self-sufficient must bring along a personal assistant. A wheelchair is available on site to help guests access the lagoon.

Other Services

Upon check-in, guests receive a wristband linked to their payment card for the duration of their visit. The wristband serves both as a locker key and as a payment method for all purchases made during your visit to Reykjaböð. The maximum number of alcoholic beverages that can be purchased per wristband is determined by the conditions of our operating license. All transactions made on the wristband are the guest's own responsibility. Guests will be charged for a lost wristband if they are unable to return it at the end of their visit.

Bus transfers to and from Reykjaböð are available as an optional service during the booking process at selected times, in cooperation with Icelandia. When you book a bus transfer together with your experience package, you will receive an email from Icelandia containing your ticket and further details.

Changes to Bookings

Should you wish to change the date, time, or number of guests on a confirmed booking, please send an email to booking@reykjabod.is. Changes are subject to availability and may incur additional costs. If you wish to change from a more expensive ticket to a less expensive one, the difference will not be refunded if the change is made outside the cancellation terms.

Temporary Closures

Reykjaböð strives to have all facilities and services available to guests during advertised opening hours. However, Reykjaböð reserves the right to temporarily close its premises and cancel all bookings and orders when it is impossible to provide the company's services due to circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), such as weather, strikes, natural disasters, directives from the authorities, or any other deviations outside the company's control.

We also reserve the right to temporarily close our premises for safety reasons, essential maintenance, or private events. Such closures will be announced with reasonable advance notice. In such cases, guests will be offered the option to reschedule their booking or receive a full refund.

Safety & Wellbeing

We ask all guests to familiarize themselves with Reykjaböð's safety rules, which are available on our website and upon arrival at the bathing venue. Resellers are responsible for informing guests in advance of the terms and safety rules that apply at Reykjaböð.

Guests are responsible for their own safety and must at all times follow the instructions of staff and posted rules. Guests are expected to treat the premises with care and show respect for other visitors. Please leave changing rooms and lockers clean and tidy after use. Do not carry water into dry areas and keep noise to a minimum.

Guests are required to shower and wash thoroughly without swimwear before entering the lagoon or bathhouse. Swimwear must be worn in all bathing areas.

The use of cameras or phones to take photos or make audio recordings in the bathhouse, changing rooms, and showers is strictly prohibited.

The premises (excluding changing rooms) are monitored by security cameras (CCTV) for safety and property protection purposes.

Excessive intoxication is not permitted. The maximum number of alcoholic beverages per guest is determined by the conditions of our operating license.

Staff are authorized to refuse entry to intoxicated individuals, decline service, and remove guests who display irresponsible or inappropriate behavior. Inappropriate behavior or breaches of the rules may result in a warning, temporary removal, or permanent exclusion from the bathing venue. No refunds are provided in the event of removal.

Staff are also authorized to request a guest's consent to carry out an alcohol test using a breathalyzer if there is suspicion of excessive alcohol or substance use. If a test shows an alcohol level above 0.08%, the guest will be denied access to the bathing areas and service at the bar. Guests who refuse to take an alcohol test risk being denied entry or asked to leave the lagoon, as appropriate.

The hot springs are natural and chlorine-free. The water temperature is typically around 38°C but may vary depending on weather conditions. Steam baths, sauna rooms, and cold pools are also available on site. Use of all facilities is at your own risk. If you have a medical condition or health-related concerns that make it inadvisable for you to use any part of the aforementioned facilities, we kindly ask that you refrain from doing so or consult our staff beforehand.

Our staff are on hand to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests and are authorized to intervene, give guidance, or ask guests to leave an area if necessary.

Spending too long in hot water or a steam room can cause dizziness, faintness, or general discomfort. Listen to your body and leave the water if anything feels off. In the event of an accident or if you feel unwell, please notify a staff member immediately. Emergency equipment and first aid supplies are available on site, and our staff are trained in responding to accidents.

Nature is part of the experience and must be respected. Going beyond marked areas is not permitted. Please stay on designated walking paths. Do not leave litter behind or disturb the vegetation, geological formations, or wildlife in the area.

Liability, Scope, and Changes to Terms

Reykjaböð reserves the right to make changes to the range of products and services offered without prior notice if needed.

Reykjaböð accepts no liability for any loss or expense, damage, accident, illness, or changes to plans resulting from circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), such as weather, strikes, natural disasters, directives from the authorities, or any other deviations outside the company's control, nor for any costs arising from any of these causes.

We strongly recommend that guests store their belongings in locked lockers. It is best to leave valuables and delicate items at home or outside the lagoon area, as water, moisture, and heat can easily cause damage. Reykjaböð accepts no liability for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged during your visit. Please note that Reykjaböð also assumes no liability for water damage to personal items kept in waterproof cases on the premises, regardless of whether the case was purchased at Reykjaböð or elsewhere. Any such loss or related expense is the sole responsibility of the guest.

Guests are fully responsible for the safekeeping, storage, and use of their own personal medical devices and medications. Should a situation arise requiring emergency assistance, staff can administer first aid within the limits of their training and will immediately contact emergency services. Such assistance does not, however, imply any obligation to store, manage, or handle personal medical devices or medications.

In cases where Reykjaböð agrees to send or return lost personal items, the owner of those items acknowledges that Reykjaböð bears no responsibility for any loss, damage, theft, disappearance, or delays that may occur during shipping or delivery, whether handled by Reykjaböð or a third party.

We recommend that all guests have valid travel insurance, which can be obtained in their country of residence.

Scope of Terms

All guests of Reykjaböð are bound by these terms and conditions, even though they are determined unilaterally by Reykjaböð.

All claims and legal actions related to these terms and the products/services provided are governed by Icelandic law and fall under the jurisdiction of the District Court of South Iceland (Héraðsdómur Suðurlands).

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to make changes to these terms at any time. The date of the most recent update to the terms of service can be found at the bottom of the page. By using the website after changes have been made, you are deemed to accept the revised terms and agree to be bound by them.
